In 2015, she garnered further critical acclaim for her performance in Todd Haynes' romantic drama Carol, for which she tied for the Best Actress Award at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and the SAG, BAFTA and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2017, Foy made her directorial debut with Lady Bird, which she also wrote. As a child, March had showed interest in the performing arts and was signed to a variety of classes such as ballet, singing and acting. At the age of 10, March and her brother were homeschooled; following a very intensive curriculum, March obtained her high school diploma at the age of 16. After graduation she took a gap year to focus on modeling. She eventually applied at The Juilliard School in the Acting programm. She was accepted and obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2008. At 16, she moved full time to New York where she became a full time model, taking part in the Fashion Week and becoming the face of perfume ads, commercials. She eventually stopped what was a promising career as a model when she started studying acting. For a couple of years, March acted in mostly indie productions, something that gave her more freedom professionally but also personally. Her breakthrough came in 2013 with her performance as Grace in Short Term 12 for which she received critical acclaim. Two years later, she starred in Room an adaptation of the novel by Emma Donoghue. Not only the role earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as a Golden Globe and BAFTA, but March also managed to show another side, more mature and confident. That same year she returned to television with the role of Karen Page in the Marvel Netflix series Daredevil. She reprised her role in the 2017 series The Defenders and The Punisher. In 2016, she appeared in the fan and critic favorite San Junipero episode of Black Mirror. Her last feature role was in Kong: Skull Island as Mason Weaver, a war photographer during the Vietnam conflict. Elizabeth is also the ambassador for a wildlife conservation association, spending a lot of her free time campaigning to save species and fight against hunters. She has written open letters in various papers over the years. She has a big social media presence via her Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts. In late 2014, March began a relationship with her Daredevil co-star [Name]. The couple eventually announced their split in early 2017, saying they were still remaining good friends.
